My name is Dessy and I was born in Bulgaria but grew up in Japan. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Bioarchaeology, in York and master’s in bioinformatics and Systems Biology from University of Manchester.
My PhD topic focuses on looking at the dynamics of Campylobacter and antimicrobial resistance in the food supply chain. I am funded by the BBSRC DTP program with an industrial partner - the Food Standards Agency. I hope to combine disciplines of bioinformatics, mathematical modeling and experimental microbiology onto the topic. I am also intrigued to see how campylobacter affects gut microbiome as well.
