Claire El Mouden

Postdoctoral Researcher 2016-2017

Claire’s research investigated whether gene drives (which artificially promote the inheritance of a target gene) could be used in mosquitoes to fight diseases such as malaria and dengue fever. She was particularly interested in the ethical and policy debates around the use of GM insects carrying gene drives. Claire holds a PhD in evolutionary modelling from the University of Oxford and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge.
